The Gruppo Gamma story began with the Genesis. Introduced in 2013, it reinterpreted the legendary military dive watches issued to Italian frogmen in the 1950s with greater refinement and modern wearability, and quickly became the defining model that laid the foundation for our brand.

The case design of the Genesis is directly inspired by the Rolex Reference 6152, executed in a more compact case with good water resistance and housing a reliable mechanical movement.

Forged in strictly limited numbers, the Genesis is crafted for those who value authenticity over ubiquity. Every timepiece aspires to be as rare on the wrist as the historic naval instruments that inspired it.

Defined by the purposeful minimalism of 1950s combat dive watches, its muscular proportions and utilitarian lines forgo unnecessary ornament. The result is an instrument of quiet authority - a watch built not to demand attention, but to earn the enduring respect of those who know.


GENESIS

A decade after its final production run in 2016, the Genesis returns to celebrate the watch that laid the foundation for Gruppo Gamma.

Drawing on more than a decade of watchmaking experience since 2013, the Genesis 2026 is the ultimate reinterpretation of the iconic military originals. 

Its re-engineered 44mm stainless steel case offers 200 metres of water resistance and is available in polished and aged steel finishes. Powering the timepiece is a choice of Swiss automatic movements by ETA and Sellita, while the collection spans classic dial executions alongside innovative materials like crystallised titanium and lume-infused forged carbon.

Note: All alternative strap+buckle sets have been taken up via earlier preorders. Each watch will continue to be offered with our vintage brown leather strap with matching Pre-V buckle.

Crystallised titanium

Crystallised titanium sandwich dials are rare in watchmaking.

Crafted from high-purity titanium, crystallised titanium undergoes specialised thermal treatment, slow cooling and precision acid etching to reveal its unique crystalline grain structure.

Gruppo Gamma has paired this remarkable material with its signature sandwich dial construction, to create a dial of exceptional depth and character.

Lume-infused forged carbon

Gruppo Gamma has been in the business of producing sandwich dials for more than a decade. Few brands do it better.

First with the Vanguard and now the Genesis 2026, the sandwich dial gets even better - it's made of lume-infused forged carbon, resulting in a marbled surface finish that glows in the dark. No two dials are alike so the watch would be uniquely yours, forever.

Aged steel finish

Aged steel finish is a case finishing technique that Gruppo Gamma introduced in 2017 and has refined over the years, predating many mainstream brands.

The combination of aged steel case and box-shaped sapphire crystal makes the Vanguard the perfect choice, if you like a timepiece with an aged, battle-worn character that’s also stylish and fuss-free.

Sapphire watch crystals

Sapphire

Corundum, also known as sapphire, has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale of 1 to 10, and is surpassed in hardness only by diamond.

Compared to mineral glass and acrylic crystals, material and tooling costs are much higher for sapphire. All our sapphire crystals are double-domed and have anti-reflective coating on the underside and while this further increases costs, it also improves readability and shatter-resistance.

Premium leather sheets

Leather

Leather has been in use since prehistory for clothing and shelter. It played a key role in the evolution of pocket watches to wrist watches, when timepieces were first worn on the wrist of military personnel by means of leather straps.

Our leather straps are made of top grain cowhide from reputable tanneries.
