Peacemaker PN-19 (Chrononautix)

This article from the German watch blog Chrononautix is a hands-on review of the Gruppo Gamma Peacemaker PN-19 Mk II Bronze, an Italian "Kampfschwimmer" (combat diver) style retro watch from the Singapore-based microbrand.

Brand Context

Gruppo Gamma has specialized in robust, vintage-inspired dive watches since 2013, presenting a well-made, affordable alternative to Panerai. The brand name pays homage to the Decima Flottiglia MAS (the WWII Italian elite naval sabotage unit).

Case and Patina

The 43mm cushion-shaped case is made from brushed CuSn8 bronze (92% copper, 8% tin). The reviewer tested the watch for two weeks on a beach in Crete, noting that exposure to sea salt, humidity, and oxygen rapidly generated a distinctive, beautiful greenish-brown patina (copper carbonate/malachite). This patina acts as a natural protective layer that naturally masks small scratches.

Dial Design

It features a dual-layer sandwich dial with a deep green-to-black gradient effect (dégradé) that complements the bronze case. The large cutout numerals are backed by "Old Radium" colored Super-LumiNova for vintage flair and dark visibility, topped by a box-shaped sapphire crystal.

Movement

Unlike previous stainless steel models that used the ETA Unitas movement, the PN-19 Mk II is powered by the Swiss Sellita SW219-1 hand-wound caliber with a small seconds hand. It features a modern 28,800 bph frequency for better long-term accuracy, and the reviewer's test piece was perfectly regulated at 0 seconds/day. Because the movement is smaller than the case, Gruppo Gamma cleverly used an antique-finished spacer ring visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.

Price and Value

The reviewer emphasizes that the watch offers exceptional build quality, macro-level precision, and an excellent price-performance ratio for fans of historic diver homages.
